About Our Values

Our Ethos

Whether a mother breastfeeds, bottle-feeds, adopts, supports, or longs to nurture ...
her care, her effort, her love - it all matters.

At Marmee, we exist to gently support that journey.

To help mothers feel comfortable, confident and quietly empowered.

To create space for bonding, for rest, and for simplicity in a world that often asks too much.

We also believe in a softer way forward.
One that honours both people and planet.

That’s why we design with intention:
• Zero fabric waste where possible
• Natural, breathable organic materials
• Thoughtful, multi-purpose pieces that simplify daily life

And beyond our products, we are committed to nurturing in other ways too:-
Supporting flexible work for caregivers, and helping shift the narrative so that motherhood, in all its forms, is seen, respected and supported.

About Our Founders

Where It All Began

Marmee began with two friends and a shared feeling that something needed to change.

For decades, Donna worked in fashion design and product development, building a successful career while quietly questioning the industry she was part of.
She saw the waste. The overproduction. The pressure to consume more, faster was often at the expense of quality, ethics, and the environment.
It didn’t sit right. And over time, it became impossible to ignore.

Then in 2020, during a moment of global pause, she met Erin - a PR hero and mother of two young babies.
Erin was navigating the realities of breastfeeding in public ...
seeking privacy, comfort, and confidence in the middle of hot Australian summers;
and finding that the existing solutions simply weren’t good enough.

There was a gap.
A real one.
And together, they knew it mattered.

A Simpler Idea, A Better Way

What followed wasn’t instant.
It was tested, refined, and reimagined again and again.

Early concepts were complex - wrap kimonos, mini shawls, multi-sized pieces …
but these all came with compromises: excess fabric, high production costs, and unnecessary complexity for mothers already carrying enough.
So they simplified.

At the same time, Donna was exploring a long-held idea ...
designing patterns that could use 100% of the fabric width, eliminating waste entirely.
When these two paths met, something clicked.

The result was beautifully simple:
A thoughtfully engineered square scarf, designed to attach to a nursing bra, creating a lightweight, breathable cocoon for feeding; without sacrificing connection.

Designed with Mothers,
for Mothers

The Nurture Me Scarf was shaped not just by design, but by real mothers.

Through ongoing testing and feedback, every detail was refined -
from the drape that allows eye contact with baby,
to the secure-yet-gentle clips,
to the calming effect of a softly shielded feeding space.

Mothers told us their babies fed more calmly.
Settled more easily.
And that they themselves felt more at ease - more confident, more comfortable, more free.

Where We Are Today

Today, the Nurture Me Scarf remains our most loved piece.

And the words we hear most often are:
“Why didn’t I have this sooner?”
or
“How did I not know this existed?”

Those words remind us why we started.

Our Promise

We’re not here to add to the overwhelm.

We’re here to support.

To create pieces that feel good to wear, gentle on the planet, and quietly transformative in the everyday moments that matter most.

Because when a mother feels supported,
she can focus on what truly matters —
nurturing, bonding, and simply being.
